Oval head wood screws combine a countersunk underside with a slightly rounded top. The head seats into a countersunk hole while the rounded top remains slightly above the surface, giving the installed screw a more finished appearance than a standard flat head screw.

These screws are commonly used for mounting hinges, locks, escutcheons, brackets, and other furniture and cabinet hardware where a countersunk screw is required and the screw head remains visible.
